BJA Safeguarding Conference - CWO & DSL
The conference is only for BJA Club Welfare Officers (CWO) and University Judo Clubs Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL).
28th October 2025 from 19:00-21:00
Theme: Celebrating BJA SG Approach ‘child to adulthood’ : with a celebration on our Four Nation approach to safeguarding.
This course is free of charge and will be facilitated online.
First Aid Protocol
It is good practice to provide your first aiders and appointed persons with a book in which to record incidents they attend.
The information can help you identify accident trends and possible areas for improvement in the control of health and safety risks.

Participation in Competition & Competitive Dan Gradings with Prosthetic Limbs
To ensure the safe and inclusive participation of Judoka with lower limb prosthetics in British Judo competitions, a formal application and approval process has been established.
This process outlines the necessary steps for competition entry, medical verification, equipment authorisation, and communication with event organisers and officials.
Spotlight on a Safeguarding Issue - Child Sexual Exploitation
As part of our ongoing commitment to learning and safeguarding across the British Judo community, we’re introducing a bi-monthly Spotlight – highlighting key issues raised through the BJA Safeguarding Team via MyVoice.
Each edition will offer brief insights, resources, and guidance to help raise awareness and strengthen safeguarding practices across clubs and among Club Welfare Officers (CWOs).

NSPCC Learning - Child Criminal Exploitation
NSPCC Learning has published a podcast episode which discusses child criminal exploitation (CCE) with the Service Head of the NSPCC’s Helpline and a police detective from an exploitation team in England.
The episode covers what CCE is; signs of CCE that professionals working with children should look out for; why early intervention is so important and what that may look like; and how the police can respond to CCE.
Safeguarding Animation Released by Buddle
Buddle, the National Lottery funded programme which provides free learning and support resources to inspire and strengthen clubs and organisations offering sport and physical activity, have released a new video exploring the moral and legal duties of safeguarding children and adults in the context of sport and physical activity.
The animation also shares tips on how you can help foster safe, positive experiences for everyone by following the shared principles of safeguarding.
